* Under Construction *
___________
1.) Most of what Millan says is not true about canines but is true about primates.
* Alpha male
* Violent struggle to the top
2.) Study The History Of "Horse Whisperers," "Natural Horsemanship"
* Buck Brannaman
* Tom Dorrance, Ray Hunt
* John Lyons
* CONTROVERSY: Movie did in fact show some dubious cruelty to the horse
* New Documentary: BUCK
3.) Sad that the only thing that will change the influence of Millan on the lives of dogs is some huge popular figure. Sad that the information has no effect on people.

4.) Statements About Dog Intelligence Never Take Into Account How Little We Know About Human Intelligence
* Statements like "the Dog has no sense of ... " etc or "Dogs Is An Animal, It is Only Driven by... " etc suppose a world where we long ago figured out how our (human) mind works. When in fact, most of our mentality remains a mystery, and most of what we are finding out shows us how animal like our minds are: chemically driven by this impulse or drive , easily fooled, often noble only by coincidence and circumstance.
5.) Tough To Argue That Millan Is More A Deepak Chopra, Tony Robbins, John Gray ("Men - From Mars; Women - Venus" author), Self Fulfillment Huckster Because So Many Of The Kind Of People That Are Prone To Be Against Millan ARE the Kind Of People That Believe Deepak Chopra Type Stuff
* This is a whole extremely important area of argument closed off.
* Probably the whole essence of what is wrong with Millan is that he is more about Oprah, Doctor Phil concerns than dogs. I would bet you that a larger percentage of people who admire Doctor Phil etc... are in the Anti - Millan camp.
6.) Research: No dogs that must actually do something useful are trained using Millan techniques: military dogs, bomb sniffing dogs, service dogs, working/herding dogs, etc ?

7.) The BIG problem isn't Millan himself
...... or the trainers that have completed a course in his theories and techniques. They are such a single digit or less percentage of the Millan effect. It's the thousands, hundreds of thousands, maybe millions of people who see a few episodes, read one book or just a chapter and use these dangerous techniques. The number one cause of dog death is surrender to shelter because of behavior problems. The question is: Is the Millan effect the single biggest cause of behavior problems in dogs worldwide? If not the single biggest, how big is the effect. What would be the ratio: for every one dog saved by Millan or a followers, six are damaged by amateurs, casual show watchers to the extant they are surrendered to a shelter, what percent of them are not then adoptable, then dead? What might be the ratio: 1 to 4? 1 to 10? 1 to 300?* Text text text text text text text text
NBC Interview with Millan On His Suicide Attempt
Lately (2013) Millan has been on TV promoting either his Biopic or his new Leader Of The Pack show. Lots of interviews - I'm thinking of NBC Dateline piece. He always mentions how much as a child he was influenced by Rin Tin Tin & Lassie but I can't find a reference anywhere of him ever mentioning Lee Duncan: the savior and "trainer" of Rin Tin Tin. Does Millan even know who Lee Duncan is? "Rin Tin Tin made me want to become the best dog trainer in the world, but I have never had any interest in who trained Rin Tin Tin or how." If he didn't wonder who trained Rin Tin Tin... or thought Rin Tin Tin trained himself, why would he have wanted to be a "trainer?" Funny side note: the rel original Rin Tin Tin appeared in silent movies a huge percentage of the time playing a wolf. Rin Tin Tin looked almost nothing like a wolf - okay, he did more than a pomeranian does, but they would actually insert nature footage of real wolves and then cut to "Rinty" the gang leader.... In one of his greatest fims, "Rinty plays 'El Lobo!' ..... so you can see right there that he doesn't actually look like the wolves - but those were the times and the films were shown in cities .... full of villainous "Wolf Gangs" I don't think they even called them packs, and "Rinty" would be the Robin Hoodesque leader (ie: alpha) ... maybe Cesar got confused by all this... of course, where and when he grew up, he's probably referring to the TV Rin Tin Tin who wasn't even in Rin Tin Tin's bloodline - which still exists today.No, they went with a fake Rin Tin Tin that looked like "Rinty" should have looked: all shiny perfect with beautiful teeth like Millan himself. Typical TV illusion thinking like Millan, I'm not a dog but I play one on TV.

Trying to collect statements by all such organizations about Millan versus reward based training.

Princeton dog trainer is charged with six counts of animal cruelty in beating death of dog
Does this have to do with Millan?

Millan Against "Bite Inhibition" development ?
* Seems that Cesar is against pups playing rough, etc. Another way his methods screw up dogs and lead to bites
* Pups need to develop a good "play bite," "bite inhibition."
