Maia Maverick CAROL
They're here...Went away for Easter and just got back today. They got sick soon after the last time you saw them. They caught some virus (maybe from the park) and were vomiting and had (not that you really want to know) loose stool (UGH!)
They just started getting better and now have another virus that's (((( CONTINUED INSIDE ))))) ..... virus that's causing these things that look like warts to grow in their mouths. It's called the Papilloma virus and is contagious. So, unfortunately, until I get them treated and healed, I need to stay away from visits to the park...
We've been busy, though. I took them to the Croton Park a couple of weekends ago. You're not going to believe this, but Maia managed to get free and ran off with her leash dragging behind her. I looked away for one second and back up again and she was no where to be found. Long story short, believe it or not, she ran over a 2 foot barrier and fell down (an 8 ft drop) in to the Hudson River! I called 911 hoping the fire dept would come, but when they didn't show after 10 mins of waiting, I had to jump in after her!! Water was freezing. I can't believe she treaded in that frigid water for nearly 15 mins without drowning or suffering from hypothermia. Unbelievable!! She's fine, but, geez, never a dull moment!
How's Maddie? Great pics on the web page!! Love the new set up. Your photos are alway so spectacular!
Hopefully, we'll see you guys soon...Beautiful day today. We wish we could be running around at the park...Oh well...
Carol

I wouldn't kid about a thing like that especially since I WENT IN AS WELL!!! Boots and all...and they're totally ruined...and they were my warmest boots too!! :( When I jumped in, while my head didn't go under, the water was around my neck...So it was pretty deep for little "Ms. Daredevil"!! That dog is crazy!!! I took my coat off before jumping in so I wrapped her in it when I got her out. I always have blankets and towels in the car (how can I not w/3 dogs) so, I wrapped her up in the blanket and cranked the heat up while I drove home. Gave her a hot bath and within an hour, she was fine...I thought she'd be traumatized and afraid of water for the rest of her life, but the next day (Sunday), I took them to Mt. Lakes Park for a hike and there are 2 lakes there...You'd think she'd have a problem with the water, but nope...she ran right in with Maverick and Marley and all three of them were bouncing around all over the place! Insane....
